Mr. John Roberts Jr. has more than 17 combined years of experience in Cable Installation in Military Systems and Civilian Marketplace.  His experience includes:

·         Extensive experience in Fiber Optic cable installation, termination, testing, and splicing.

·         Moderate experience in Cisco Router, Switches and Fiber Distribution Switch installation, configuration, and testing.

·         Extensive experience in Copper Network Cable installation and testing of all military and civilian grade copper wire and equipment.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

March 2013 – Present, VTMilcom, Afghanistan, E&I Sitelead/Tech 3

Responsiblities at VTMilcom involved being familiar with a variety of installations, tests, and repairs communication equipment such as public address and intercommunication systems, wired burglar alarms, switchboards, telegraphs, telephones, and related apparatus, including coin collectors, telephone booths, and switching keys by performing the following duties. Relied on experience and judgment to include the following, Installing equipment according to layout plans and connects units with inside and outside service wires. Maintain equipment and analyzes operational malfunctioning with testing devices such as oscilloscopes, generators, meters, and electric bridges, to locate and diagnose nature of defect and ascertain repairs to be made. Examine mechanism and disassembles components to replace, clean, adjust or repair parts, wires, switches, relays, circuits, or signaling units. Operate and tests equipment to ensure elimination of malfunction. Climb poles to install or repair outside service lines. Supervisory Responsibilities included, directly supervise non-supervisory telecommunications positions. Required to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities included interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While working with DRS my responsibilities involved all inside and outside plant jobs as well as secondary duties to include temporary tech lead and team information management officer.  Also required to know and install jobs under I3A, Bicsi, and Tempest standards for all networks required by the military.  Working knowledge of engineering and logistics was a must to perform all duties associated with the inside and outside plant operations.

May 2011- OCT 2012, Centurum Inc., Afghanistan, E&I Tech 2

While working with Centurum inc. my responsibilities involved all inside and outside plant jobs as well as secondary duties to include temporary tech lead and team information management officer.  Also required to know and install jobs under I3A, Bicsi, and Tempest standards for all networks required by the military.  Working knowledge of engineering and logistics was a must to perform all duties associated with the inside and outside plant operations.

March 2011 – May 2011, ITT Systems Inc., Afghanistan, E&I Tech 2

While employed with ITT Systems was responsible for all new installations of inside and outside plant infrastructure on FOB Sharana.  I installed all three major military networks in support of base operations.  Was required to operate and maintain all heavy equipment, fiber optic equipment, and associated equipment for the inside and outside plant operations.

March 2010 – January 2011, L-3 Communications Inc., Sierra Vista, AZ, Network Infrastructure Specialist

Working in Afghanistan in support of OEF I was responsible for engineering and installation of communication systems for the United States Military.  I report to the base Project Manager and Brigade S-6 for work and would engineer , order materials and install all network communications equipment for the three major communications networks.  Also installed extensive fiber networks and Ethernet networks on Fob Sharana in Afghanistan.   Also supervised and trained military personnel.

August 2000 – October 2009, D&E Communications Inc., Ephrata, Pa, Installation and Repair Technician

While at D&E Communications I was responsible for the installation and maintenance of various underground, aerial and premise wiring systems.  I would coordinate work between the company construction crew and the I&R crews to ensure projects would be completed in a timely manner and to customer satisfaction.  In addition to my I&R responsibilities, I would often times assist customers in home and business PC and network setup.

 

 

 

September 2007 – September 2012, Pennsylvania National Guard, York, Pa, 25L Cable Installer

During deployment in support of OIF, supervised a wire team of 4 Soldiers.  My team and I installed 40+ miles of cat5e and fiber optic cable.  This expanded the posts tactical data and voice network.  In addition to laying the cable infrastructure, we terminated and tested all lines to ensure quality.  Often times I met with senior leadership to advise them on project progression and to help them formulate plans for future network expansion projects.

 

June 1996 - June 2000, U.S. Army, Worldwide, 25C Single Channel Backpack Operator

 

While serving as a 25C on active duty I was responsible for providing reliable tactical radio and satellite communications to Special Operations Groups and Infantry Battalions across the globe.  Worked with several civilian and military tactical communications equipment.   I was also responsible for training soldiers on several of the radio and satellite systems used in field and combat operations.
